Just got through the whole book in 20 minutes. It's a great read, and being an experienced barista who has worked in many different coffee shops that catered to different customer bases I can honestly say that Luca is spot-on with a lot of what he says, and explains how to make a great shot of espresso in a clear concise way (with reasoning behind each instruction, which is important to me). I've worked in some crappy places that told baristas "just do this" and didn't explain why, so this was a refreshing read. Great for beginners, a review for experienced baristas, a definite must read for espresso lovers, great job Luca!Product details

I did not know anything about expresso. Nothing. This book gave me all the informaiton necessary to consistantly make a great shot of expreso as well as lates and other drinks. It even gave me the information to help pick out the right coffee bean. Not being a coffee drinker before, this was a great book!
Had purchased a espresso machine and wanted to know about brewing my own espresso. Book is good and presicise in instructions, yet like other books on the subject all leave out a trouble shooting chapter. Like to little cream or or lack of . Temp of espresso and how to trouble shoot weak or to strong brew.
Overall, a good read. I have been working in the coffee industry for about 8 years, so I came in with some knowledge under my belt. I still did learn a few things in this book, that will aid me in my coffee journey (home roasting and blending).
I recommend this book for anyone new to the industry, looking for a quick guide to espresso. The information about bean quality, regional differences and processing methods are essential to a base of knowledge in the coffee world.
The author conveys information in a clear manner, and is enjoyable.
A simple intro for the beginner that won't overwhelm. Aficionados might argue about some of the author's recommended shot measurements and blender advice, etc., but it's beyond this book's scope (despite its bold title). If you're a beginner, this book will give you the information you need to get your feet wet.
NICE BOOK BUT I RATHER GET ONE AT THE STORE THAN TO MAKE MY OWN THE INGREDIENTS ARE TOO HIGH TO BUY TO MAKE THSES DRINKS I BUY ESPRESSO COFFEE I N DIFFERENT BRANDS AND THEY ARE JUST AS GOOD.
This book is very informative and gives many great advises for making the perfect espresso shot. I recommend it to any one who is interested in experiencing a nice taste of espresso or for those who are interested in getting an excellent machine.
This book is for those who have no idea about coffee and want to learn. The book provides you with very basic understanding of all the comments involved in making an espresso. My issues with the book were
1) it feels like the author is constantly trying to promote himself, his website and at times even certain brands.
2) You can learn all that was covered in the book through searching the topic on YouTube, some vids probably teach it better to be honest
3) From a professional stand point I do not understand how the author doesn't tell his readers to weigh their coffee (grams in - grams out)
